Shaarib Hashmi[1] is an Indian Bollywood actor, known for the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire (2008), the National Award-winning movie Filmistaan (2012) and Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012). He made his debut in Bollywood with the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire and acted in a more in-depth role in 2012 with the drama film Jab Tak Hai Jaan.[2] Recently he did work on Amazon Prime show The Family Man and Voot Select's hit show Asur.
Early life and education
Sharib Hashmi was born in Malad, a suburb area in Mumbai, Maharashtra of India, into a middle-class family. His father, Z. A. Johar, was a noted film journalist. Sharib did his schooling from St. John's Model English High School and graduated from Bhavan's College in Mumbai, India.[3]
Career
Sharib started his career by working in movies as an actor. In 2008, he made his debut film “Slumdog Millionaire” which became an Oscar-winning movie.[4]
In 2012, he gave back-to-back hit movies like “Filmistaan” also featuring Inaamulhaq, Kumud Mishra.[5] In “Jab Tak Hai Jaan” a multi-starrer film with, Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. [6]
Later, he worked in several movies like “Badmashiyaan” (2015),” Phullu Phullu” (2017), “Vodka Diaries” (2018), “Batti GUI Meter Chalu” (2018), “Nakkash” (2019), “Ujda Chaman” (2019), and “Darbaaan” (2020) [7]
Sharib Hashmi's recent work on the Amazon Prime Show “The Family Man” [8]and Voot Select blockbuster “Asur” that became super hit among the viewers.[9]
In 2020, he appeared in a television series “A Viral Wedding” and worked in numerous commercials, television web series, and films as well.[10]
