Mathagam is an upcoming 2023 Indian Tamil-language gangster drama television series created and directed by Prasath Murugesan for Disney+ Hotstar. That delves deep into the nexus between cops and gangsters in Chennai.[1]

The principal characters of the series include Atharvaa and K. Manikandan.[2][3] The eight episodic series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on 18 August 2023.[4]

The series is produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment. Prasath Murugesan has directed the web series that deals with cops and gangsters, he marked his web series debut with this series. It is said that the thriller is set in a span of 30 hours and showcases a siege that happens overnight. The music is composed by Darbuka Siva, who turned a filmmaker last year with Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, has composed music for this series.[7] with DOP by Edwin Sakay, editing by Praveen Antony, stunts by Dhilip Subbarayan and art direction by Suresh Kallery.

Atharvaa[8][9] was cast as Ashwath Rathnakumar and plays a police officer.[10] K. Manikandan was cast as gangsters.[11][12] Atharvaa and K. Manikandan's marked his web series debut with this series.[13]
ReleaseEdit
The first teaser was released on 3 May 2023 featuring Atharvaa and K. Manikandan with Raadhika Sarathkumar's voiceover says that the night is watching over everyone - the one who only sees the light and the other who only sees the day.[14][15] The teaser showcases the conflict between the good and the evil.[16] It was announced on Wednesday 5 August 2023 that the series will be released on 18 August 2023 in Tamil,[17] Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi languages on Disney+ Hotstar.[18]
