Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee (Bengali:পণ্ডিত প্রদ্যুৎ মুখার্জি) (born 5 June 1975) is also known as a "Tabla Maestro"[1] and world's premier tabla (Indian percussion) player.[2][3][4] He won the Global India Music Academy Award ( GiMA Award ) in 2016 for his album Rhythm Express-Moods with Padma Bhushan Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt.[5] He is a noted composer,[2] soloist,[1] fusion[6] & classical musician[6] with wide range of musical albums[6][7] in his credit.

Rhythm ExpressEdit

Rhythm Express set-up is Prodyut Mukherjee's contribution towards a new form of fusion with depth and soul.[6] Rhythm Express, encompasses a vast spectrum of musical genres ranging from traditional Hindustani classical to South Indian classical notes and extending beyond the boundaries of India.[13]

RecognitionEdit

Mukherjee with his Tabla & Chic Drum(Mouth Percussion) brings various outstanding effects such as thunderstorm,[6] rain drops,[6] and movement of two trains on side by side track[6],noise made by the hooves of horses on the move,[6] Shiva Tandava[6] and many more and it creates a mesmerizing effect in the heart of the audience.

He was recognized by the former Indian cricket captain & current BCCI President Mr. Sourav Ganguly[44] for his Rhythm Express Fusion project and Indian actor Mr. Anil Kapoor after receiving the GiMA award 2016 at Reliance Film City Mumbai.[45][46]Mukherjee took part in the COVID-19 awareness program initiated by the Govt. of India(Ministry of Culture) for spreading positive harmonies among the people. This message was published on a social site maintained by Govt. of India.[47]
