Purshottam Narayan Gadgil (1874 – October 25, 1954, in Sangli) was an Indian jeweller, best known for being the namesake of P. N. Gadgil Jewellers.[1][2]

Gadgil was born to Narayan and Ramabai Gadgil (née Patankar) of the Gadgil gharana of Dongare-Kondhe. His family was Chitpavan brahmin, and he was the eldest of three brothers and had two sisters.[3] Shortly after his birth, his grandfather Ganesh Gadgil renamed the jewellery company he founded in 1832 to P. N. Gadgil Jewellers,[4] believing that his grandson's name (Purshottam) would bring the business good luck.[5][1][6]

Gadgil was educated till the sixth grade. He was married thrice; first to Umabai Sakhdev, second to Uma Joshi, and finally to Sitabai Bhate. He had a daughter per marriage.[7][1] After his father's death in 1920, the company was managed by him and his younger brothers, until his own death on October 25, 1954, after which it was managed by his younger brothers and their sons.[4] In 1958, his nephew Anant Gadgil, set up a branch of the company in Pune.[8]
