Mayur Sharma

Mayur Sharma (born February 11) is an Indian TV anchor, food enthusiasts and author. He is known for co-anchoring the Indian Telly Award winning cult show Highway On My Plate on NDTV Good Times. Sharma also co-authored Highway On "My Plate – the Guide to Indian Roadside Eating" which was the best selling book that won "Best Celebrity Cookbook" at the 2012 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris.

Early life

Sharma was born and brought up in Delhi, India to a retired military officer.[1] Mayur did his schooling at the Air Force Bal Bharti School and completed his graduation from Cambridge University.[2] He started with Air Force School, Subroto Park and then shifted to St. Xavier’s High School in Bombay, for three years. He returned to Air Force Bal Bharti School and completed his schooling there.[1] He is married and has two children. He moved to Goa from Delhi in 2016 along with his family for a better environment for their children.[3]

Career

He co-anchored and scripted the 2007 weekly travel and food show Highway On My Plate along with his childhood friend and food enthusiasts Rocky Singh.Teri, Deeksha (2017-09-03). Before joining the cast of the show, Sharma has taught English in village schools in Africa and South America, and helped reconstruct a devastated village in Sri Lanka that was hit by the tsunami. He writes articles about food, travel and current affairs that have been published in the New York Times (India Ink), FHM, and Food & Nightlife. He has travelled and hitch-hiked his way across sixty five countries and is passionate about squash and rock-climbing. He has also hosted two other shows on the channel NDTV Good Times, India's Most Haunted and Jai Hind with Rocky and Mayur.

In 2011, he co-authored a book titled Highway on My Plate:The Indian Guide to Roadside Eating[4][5] which has been honored at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011 as the Best Celebrity Cook Book.[6]
