Sridharan Madhusudhanan (born 13 January 1966) is an Indian diplomat and author. He was posted as the spokesperson and head of the press, information and culture division of the Embassy of India, Washington, D.C., where he worked till June 2016.[citation needed] He wrote the first direct translation book from Chinese to Tamil language, called Vaari choodinum paarppavar illai (Even if I adorn; there's none to behold)[1] and first book to introduce Chinese language in Tamil.
Madhusudhanan assumed his responsibilities as head of press, information and culture wing and the spokesperson of the Embassy of India in Washington in February 2013.[citation needed] As minister at the embassy, he headed the department dealing with press relations and media management, and cultural relations including institutional linkages, literature, performing arts, exhibitions, films, publications, scholars and distinguished visitors exchange programs. He also dealt with digital diplomatic initiatives as well as Indian chairs in the US universities and outreach programs.[citation needed]
Madhusudhanan joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1996.[citation needed] He was posted twice at the Embassy of India in Beijing, serving as the head of political section, head of cultural section, spokesperson of the embassy and project manager of the new embassy project.[citation needed] He served as the consul for trade and investment at the Indian consulate in Hong Kong, and as Number 2 at the Indian High Commission in Fiji Islands. At the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, he had previously served as the officer in-charge for the E-Governance and Information Systems Management and recently headed the division for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.[citation needed]
Apart from MBA from Colorado State University and studying Chinese language at the Beijing Institute of Economic Management, he studied Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM), Master of Public Administration (MA Pub Ad), postgraduate diploma in journalism and under graduation in science in India.[citation needed]
He wrote Even if I Adorn, There's None to Behold - Book of Songs, the first-ever direct translation between Chinese and Tamil and ‘Chinese Language – an Introduction’ in Tamil language.[2]
He is currently translating a book by Chinese writer Mo Yan, winner of Nobel Prize in Literature.[citation needed]
