Modi carried out 3 cabinet reshuffles during his first ministry. The cabinet reshuffle of 2021 is the first cabinet reshuffle of the second Modi ministry.
The Modi government was constantly being criticized across the country for not handling the Covid epidemic properly, after which it was decided to make changes in the cabinet.[4][5]
Changes
Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narayan Rane, Sarbananda Sonowal, Anupriya Patel, Kapil Patil, Meenakshi Lekhi, Ajay Bhatt, Bhupendra Yadav, Sunita Duggal, Pashupati Kumar Paras, Bharati Pawar, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Sobha Karandlaje became new ministers.
Harsh Vardhan, Babul Supriyo, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Santosh Gangwar, Sanjay Dhotre, Debasree Chaudhuri, Ratan Lal Kataria, Sadanand Gowda, Thawarchand Gehlot, Pratap Sarangi and Rao Saheb Dhanve Patil left the Modi cabinet.
Anurag Thakur, G Kishan Reddy, Kiren Rijiju, R. K. Singh, Hardeep Singh Puri, Mansukh L. Mandaviya and Parshottam Rupala were promoted to cabinet rank ministers.[6][7]
