BackgroundEdit

The platform was established with the goal of making news accessible in Kannada for a wide audience across Karnataka. Since its launch, it has covered topics such as regional developments, governance, social issues and public interest subjects. [9] [10]

Innovation in News MediaEdit

Kannada News Today is considered one of the first media outlets in Karnataka to experiment with Realistic AI-powered news anchors, introducing digital tools into the way news is presented. These efforts reflect its focus on adopting technology in journalism to enhance user engagement and storytelling formats. [11] [12]

RecognitionEdit

Over the years, the platform and its founder have received several honors:

  • Rajyotsava Honor (2023) – by Janapada Sahitya Mattu Patrika Vedike [13]
  • Media Contribution Award (2024) – by the Karnataka Media and Communications Forum (KMCF) [14]
  • Excellence in Regional Source Award – presented by Janapada Mattu Kreeda Sangha, a cultural organization.[15]

InitiativesEdit

In addition to news publication, Kannada News Today has also initiated activities beyond regular reporting. In 2024, the platform introduced the Sadhana Awards to recognize grassroots journalists working in different districts of Karnataka. [16] [17] The same year, it also began conducting media literacy workshops in rural communities and government colleges, focusing on responsible news consumption and awareness of misinformation.
