Portuguese (Portuguese: português or língua portuguesa) is a western Romance language. It is spoken in Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, and São Tomé and Príncipe. It's also a co-official language in East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, and Macau. More than 260 million people speak Portuguese, 236 million people speak Portuguese as a native language, and 27 million people speaks Portuguese as its second language. It is the 4th most popular language of the world.

Pronunciation

Portuguese is known for the distinctive pronunciation and its nasal sounds. For example, "c" sounds like "k," "ch" sounds like "ch". The pronunciation can vary depending on the region.
