Banchharamer Bagan is a 1980 film directed by Tapan Sinha. It stars Manoj Mitra, and is adapted from his celebrated stage play ‘Sajano Bagan’. The film was critically acclaimed, and at the 1980 Filmfare Awards was the winner for best film, best director and best actor.[1][2][3][4]
The film revolves around an old peasant's garden, which the zamindars desperately want to occupy. Despite the continuous machinations and traps put forward by the zamindars, the aged, frail pheasant Banchharam, in some way or the other, continues to live in his garden, and manages to maintain it as well.[5]
