He ran for the seat of the National Assembly as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) from Constituency NA-137 (Sheikhupura-VII) in the 2008 Pakistani general election but was unsuccessful. He received 44,745 votes and lost the seat to Saeed Ahmed Zafar.[5]
He was re-elected to the National Assembly as a candidate of PML-N from Constituency NA-137 (Sheikhupura-VII) in the 2013 Pakistani general election.[1][6][7][8] He received 61,329 votes and defeated an independent candidate, Ijaz Ahmed Shah.[9]

He died on 14 January 2015 in Nankana Sahib due to heart attack.[10][1]
