The region is well connected through bus and train. [[Katpadi Junction]] is located in the city of (4&nbsp;km from) [[Vellore]] bus stand, and it is the largest railway junction in the district. It is one of the most important railway junctions in [[Southern Railway (India)|Southern Railway]]. Local town buses are plenty towards other parts of Vellore.
Chittoor bus stand is a major road junction, which acts as the Bus depot for Katpadi. It is named so, as it was the starting point for all [[Chittoor]], [[Andhra Pradesh]] buses previously. However, buses to Chittor now start from Vellore bus stand.

Katpadi (ta) is a locality in the northern part of Vellore, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Politics and geography[edit | edit source]

Once a village, Katpadi was upgraded to a panchayat town, with its own taluk office. It has a major assembly constituency which is part of Arakkonam (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is in Katpadi. In 2010 it was ranked as one of the best private engineering universities in India.[2][3]
