Ichthyaetus is a genus of gulls in the order Charadriiformes. The genus name comes from Ancient Greek ἰχθύς (ikhthús), meaning "fish", and ἀετός (aetós), meaning "eagle", and thus, "fish eagle".[1] They were previously included in the genus Larus.[2]
