Genie is an Indian upcoming Tamil-language fantasy drama film written and directed by debutant Bhuvanesh Arjunan. It is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Films International. The film features Jayam Ravi, Krithi Shetty in the lead roles, alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan and Wamiqa Gabbi. A. R. Rahman is composing the music and background scores for the film.[1]

Development
In March 2023, it was reported that actor Jayam Ravi, producer Ishari K. Ganesh and music director A. R. Rahman would do a pan-Indian film together with a budget of ₹100 crore.[2] On April, Krithi Shetty was roped in to play the lead female role.[3] Kalyani Priyadarshan and Wamiqa Gabbi were also reported to play a role in the film.[4] A muhurat puja was held on 5 July.[5]
Filming
Principal photography began with a muhurat puja on 5 July.[6] A grand set was erected in a film city in Chennai and is said to be a three-week filming schedule in the set.[7]
Music
The music and background scores are composed by A. R. Rahman in his maiden collaboration with Bhuvanesh and third with Ravi after Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022) and Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023).[8]
Release
Theatrical
Genie's release date is yet-to-be revealed. Although apart from releasing on Tamil, it is also releasing on Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada.[9]
