Hari is depicted as an IT company employee who works in Chennai and is originally from a village in Kerala. His family members include his father, mother, grandfather and sister. Per family custom, his grandfather is a [[Velichappadu]]. Hari is in love with Pooja, who is of a royal family. In spite of her parents desire for her to marry a wealthy man from the United States, Pooja falls in love with Hari.

Their family custom is of the man of the family becoming a velichapaadu. Hari is in love with Pooja( [[Padmapriya Janakiraman|Padmapriya]]) she is from a royal family whose parents wants her to get married to a rich guy of USA. but pooja loves Hari. when hari comes to his hometown she comes with her car from chennai alone. two years before it is shown that when Hari's grandfather die the post of velichapaadu is transferred to hari's father to which Hari disagree and this leads to a clash between Hari and his father. Hari's father first hated pooja but afterwards it is shown that he likes her as his daughter in law. Hari's father dies of brain tumour while he was in the act of velichapaad in temple.In a dream Hari is disturbed by seeing him as a velichapaadu. he fears that he might be the next velichapaad. at last he dresses up as a velichapaadu and goes to temple but he is happy to see other man being a velichappadu.
