Kunnathur is home to a historic Lakshmi Narayanan Temple built by the [[Chera Dynasty]] in the 12th century. Other notable places of worship include the Akilandeshwarar Temple, the Aranmanai Mariamman Temple, Vijaya Ganapathi built by M.K. Natrajan, the Kunnathur Sivan Temple, the Lakshmi Narayana Temple, the Perumal Temple, the Hanuman or Anjaneyar Temple in Poolangulam built by M.N. Karupana Gounder in the 20th century, the Amman Temple, the Sangu Mariamman Temple and the Arulmigu Thandu Mariamman Temple at Santhayapalayam. The Sri RajaGanapathi Temple at Kammalakuttai The Ponkali Amman Temple, which is common between 54 villages, including Kunnathur, is noted for its annual Chariot Festival. Kundrai Aatheenam Sri la Sri Jambugeswara Swamigal, who is also known as Sri Rishyasingar, offers blessings to the devotees and prays for the welfare of humankind.
