The Insurance Institute of India is the sole national apex body for Insurance Underwriters established in 1955 in Mumbai. Applicants can specialise in life insurance underwriting or general insurance underwriting . Examinations are held for Flagship course and a certificate course:
- Licenciate, Associate, Fellowship.(Insurance Underwriter)
- Certificate in insurance salesmanship (CIS)
