"Taoroinai" (Meitei: ꯇꯥꯎꯔꯣꯢꯅꯥꯢ, romanized: taau-roy-naay)(Old Manipuri: ꯇꯥꯎꯂꯣꯢꯅꯥꯢ, romanized: taau-loy-naay) is a serpentine dragon which lives in the moon in ancient Meitei mythology and religion.[7][8][9][10] The Shakok Lamlen mentions that the Kangla was constructed over the navel of the serpent god.[11] Legend says Pakhangba was brought from heaven as a nonglum (egg of clouds) by Taoroinai.[12][13] According to it's general features, it is said to be equivalent to the Ananta of Hindu mythology.[14]
