Tanuj Samaddar (born 26 December 2004) is an Indian artist, researcher and youth activist. He is a recipient of the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar from the President of India and the Karmaveer Chakra.[1][2]
Tanuj has also received the Global Kids' Achievers Award and was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize.[3] He founded āAction for a Resilient Tomorrowā as a Billion Acts Peace Fellow in 2025.[4] Samaddar represented India in the World Conservation Congress 2025, held in Abu Dhabi on behalf of UNFCCC, where he raised awareness about wetland conservation in Assam.[5]
Personal Life
Samaddar is a Commonwealth Scholar pursuing his post-graduation at University College London (UCL). He graduated from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, in 2026. He was born and brought up in the quaint township of Rangia in the district of Kamrup (Assam).[6]
Honours and Awards
- Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2021, India's highest civilian award for youths from the President of India[7]
- Elected a Fellow in the Royal Society of Arts UK, 2024
- Karmaveer Chakra Award 2024, a global civilian award jointly bestowed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and iCongo.[8]
