Thattum Vellattam is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language film written and directed by Mridul Nair. The film is produced by Masood TP, Safeer Ahmed, Rajeev Maroli and Sherin Vennamkattil under the banner of Mars Entertainment.[1] The film stars Asif Ali, Soubin Shahir, Saiju Kurup, Balu Varghese and Jean Paul Lal.

Premise

Set against the backdrop of Theyyam, the film explores the social and cultural traditions associated with the ritual art form in northern Kerala.[2]

Cast

Development and production

The project was announced in January 2020, reuniting director Mridul Nair with actor Asif Ali following their earlier collaboration on B Tech.[1] The film was conceived against the backdrop of Theyyam traditions in North Malabar.

Production was delayed following the COVID-19 pandemic and scheduling conflicts. In later interviews, Asif Ali described Thattum Vellattam as one of his dream projects and expressed confidence that production would move forward.[3]

In 2025, the makers released the title announcement video and confirmed that the screenplay was written by Akhil K. The film also features Deepak Parambol and Ganapathi S. Poduval in supporting roles.[2][4]

Release

As of 2026, the film does not have an announced theatrical release date.
