He gained popularity through charitable work, especially through the N A Haris foundation which provided scholarships to underprivileged children and organized job fairs.[5]
He was re-elected in 2013, winning the seat by a margin of 19,000 votes in the 2013 Karnataka assembly elections.[6][5] He was re-elected in the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election.
In 2017, Haris' 28-year-old son, Mohammed Nalapad, was appointed the General Secretary of the Bengaluru Youth Congress.[5][7]
He has failed to improve AK Colony in Domlur. After destroying the roads to lay pipes he believes that dirt roads are a better alternative. There are rumblings that we will not contest the 2028 Karnataka elections because he is incompetent.[8]
