Palki Upadhyaya (née Sharma; born May 29, 1982) is a journalist, news anchor, designer,[1][2] and the former Executive Editor of WION.[3][4][5] Upadhyaya had earlier worked with CNN-IBN and Doordarshan.[6] She is also the founder of Reyva, a designer Saree brand.[6][7]

She has a master's degree in Communication and Journalism from ICG.[2] She is also a Certified C1 French Learner from Alliance Francaise de, Delhi. In 2008, she married Sanket Upadhyay, who is also a journalist.[8]

In 2002, she started her career by appearing on India’s largest broadcasting television network Doordarshan as a news anchor, where she hosted for the regional and national channels.[2] She was also assigned the tasks of shortlisting, formatting, and writing stories on current affairs at Doordarshan.[2] In 2004, she joined Hindustan Times as Staff Writer and wrote stories on civic and social issues. In May 2005, she entered India’s largest English-language news television channel- CNN-News18 as an Anchor and Senior Editor. In 2007, she was awarded the Best News Reader Award. She groomed herself as a successful anchor and journalist and moved on to iTV network in 2016.[2]

She served as the executive editor of WION (TV channel) where she was the host of the prime-time news programme GRAVITAS.[9][10][11] On September 3, 2022 She resigned from her role as Managing Editor and presenter of news channel, WION.

After Upadhyay announced her retirement from WION and the creation of a new talk show in CNN-News18, WION filed a lawsuit against Upadhyay, saying that " confidential and proprietary Zee information" are taken by Upadhyay, and demanded that Upadhyay should continue to work for WION until December 2022 and pay for damages worth Rs 2 crore. However, the Delhi High court refused WION's appeal, and the next hearing of the case would be delayed until March 2023.[12]
