Irfan Amin Malik is a Journalist based in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir. His stories have have appeared through print media, videos and podcasts. [1][2]
Career
Malik started his career as a staff correspondent with Greater Kashmir newspaper and currently he is working as Online Editor with Rising Kashmir. Malik is writing for the national and international media and his stories have regularly appeared in The Wire, The Quint, Article 14, The Citizen, Quartz India, Ozy, Vice Media.
Early Life
Irfan Malik was the first journalist in Jammu and Kashmir who was detained by Indian security forces after Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) led central government revoked Article 370 in August 2019. [3][4][5][6][7]In March 2020 he was awarded with gold medal by Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora for securing first position in masters in post graduation in mass communication and journalism. Malik hails from Tral township in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.In the year 2020 amid covid19 pandemic Malik has also got two different media fellowships.[8]
