Ongole district was created in 1970 with three revenue divisions of Kurnool, Guntur and Nellore districts. Donakonda is a town in Andhra Pradesh, situated in the Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in Donakonda mandal in Kanigiri revenue division.[1]

Donakonda is located at 15°50′00″N 79°29′00″E / 15.8333°N 79.4833°E in the Prakasam district. The terrain is mostly flat surrounded by hills some distance away.

Donakonda Airport (ICAO: VODK) is located at Donakonda in Andhra Pradesh, India. The airfield was constructed during World War II by the British regime to refuel its aircraft. It is owned by the Airports Authority of India and is now closed.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh handed over the Donakonda airport to Bhogapuram Airport Authority and an ongoing extension of the airport is being worked on.
