| Raan or Rawn (راں) is a very old clan/cast of [[Jat people|Jat (Jatt)]] tribe of [[India]] & [[Pakistan]]. The roots of this cast Raan Jatt reach to the era of BC (Before Christ).

| In "[[A Glossary of the Tribes and Castes of the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province]]" the writer H.A Rose mentioned that Raan Jatt tribes migrated from [[Delhi]] to [[Multan]] and [[Shahpur, Punjab|Shah Pur]] in Mughal Era. In " Punjab k Jatton ki tareekh" the writer Ghulam Akbar Malik mentioned that Raan Tribe is origanly Sooraj Bansi Rajputs and are from Raja Karan.

| As per the 1911 [[Census|Censuses]] 216 families of Raan Jatt tribe was present in District Multan.

| A city named [[Qadirpur Ran|Qadir Pur Raan]] (قادر پور راں) is located in Distt Multan full of the [[Muslims|Muslim]] members of Raan Tribe. As per the history some families migrated form Shah Pur to Qadir Pur Raan and some from Multan. The Raan people of this area like to call themselves "Malik". The notables politicians of this area are [[Malik Muhammad Abbas Raan]], [[Malik Mazhar Abbas Raan]], [[Malik Wasif Mazhar Raan]].

| In Chavinda of Tehsil Pasroor of Sialkot District, Village named Jasso Raan is present. Population of this village is in Thousands. A tomb of spiritual leader Baba Jasso Raan is located in this area.

| A village near Sialkot named Kala Rawan is also located with the majority of Raan tribe. Also there is a large number of Raan families living in District Jhang.

| In Sindh the Raan Jatt like to Call themselves " Raees".

| Raan Jatt Tribe is present in Muslim, Sikh and Hindu religion. In Rajisthan, India the Raan Jatt tribe is present in both Hindu and Muslim Religion. Furthermore Raan Tribe is also present in the Kachh Bujh area of Kathiawar, Gujrat region.

| In Muzaffargarh most Rawn reside in Moza Kachiwali, located near [[Rohilanwali|Rohillanwali]]. The Elder notable Rawn was Malik Ghulam Habib jat Rawn. He was famous as Molvi Rawn (مولوی راں ). Malik Ghulam Sarwar and Malik Qadir Bux were also elders of Rawn tribe in Kachiwali.
