Mankachar is located at 25°32′N 89°52′E / 25.53°N 89.87°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 27 m (89 ft). In the north there is Hatsingimari, in the east and south there is the state of Meghalaya and in the west there is the international border with Bangladesh.

Mankachar is part of Dhubri (Lok Sabha constituency). It is the number 21 constituency of the Assam Legislative Assembly.[2]
