Royal Bodyguard [lower-alpha 1] (RBG) of Bhutan is an elite unit within the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA), specializing in a range of advanced military operations. Its responsibilities include anti-irregular military tactics, clandestine and covert operations, commando-style raids, and countering sudden attacks. The RBG is also tasked with counterintelligence efforts to prevent assassination attempts on royal family members and sabotage of the royal palace. Additionally, it engages in counterterrorism operations, hostage rescue missions, irregular warfare, mountain warfare, special operations, and the protection of important or high-ranking personnel.
