Historical BackgroundEdit
Following the Eighteenth Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan in June 2011, healthcare responsibilities were delegated to provincial health departments. However, in May 2013, Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso reinstated the federal ministry, rebranding it as the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination. This newly established ministry was assigned the roles of providing medical services, formulating health policies, and ensuring their enforcement at the national level. It also encompasses initiatives related to literacy and basic education, emphasizing skill development programs and vocational training.

The ministry administers various federal health programs across the country, including:
National AIDS Control ProgramEdit
NACP Launched in 1986-87, the NACP initially concentrated on the laboratory diagnosis of suspected HIV cases.
National Tuberculosis Control ProgramEdit
This program has successfully treated 700,000 tuberculosis patients to date, offering free diagnosis and treatment as well as raising public awareness about the disease. Currently, it is under the leadership of Lt. Aazam Parvez from the Pakistan Army Medical Corps.
