Summary
| DescriptionVisual genealogy of the Tansen and Sadarang lineage.jpg |
English: A hagiographical visual genealogy from the Rāg darshan manuscript (Folio 3v), commissioned by Raja Rao Ranbha Bahadur and illustrated by Haji Mir Ghulam Hasan. The painting depicts the central figures of the Delhi kalāwant birādarī, identifying the author's direct and discipular inheritance from the family of Tansen.
Figures depicted (identified by Nastaʻlīq inscriptions): * Top Left: Miyan Tansen. * Top Centre: Shah Adarang Sahib (Mian Firoz Khan), the ustād of the author's father. * Top Right: Shah Sadarang Sahib (Mian Ni'mat Khan), the famed bīn maestro and khayāl innovator. * Bottom Right: Miyan Karim Khan, the father of the author. * Bottom Left: The author, Khushhal Khan "Anup". While his name is not explicitly inscribed on this folio, his identity is inferred from his distinct likeness in other identified miniatures throughout the manuscript. |
