English: This seasonal view of paddy fields at Thanikkudam, Thrissur District, is a waning scene as of late (2011). Like in many parts of Kerala,the mostly agrarian population has changed their occupations into better yielding professions.
The paddy (Orisa sativa) plants seen here are part of the Virippu season that starts in October and ends in January. മലയാളം: കേരളത്തിലെ മറ്റു പല പ്രദേശങ്ങളും പോലെ, തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ താണിക്കുടത്തും ഇത്തരം നെൽകൃഷിപ്പാടങ്ങൾ ഒരു അപൂർവ്വദൃശ്യമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു (2011). പൊതുവേ കൃഷീവലന്മാരായിരുന്ന ഗ്രമീണജനത ഇക്കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷങ്ങളിൽ കൂടുതൽ വരുമാനം ലഭിക്കുന്ന മറ്റു തൊഴിലുകളിലേക്കു് മാറിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
ചിത്രത്തിൽ കാണുന്ന പാടശേഖരം കന്നി/തുലാം മാസത്തിൽ തുടങ്ങി മകരക്കൊയ്ത്തോടെ വിളവെടുപ്പിനു പാകമാവുന്ന വിരിപ്പുകൃഷിയുടെ ഭാഗമാണു്. |
