Summary

DescriptionShalban Bihar Temple Ruins 003.jpg Ruins of secondary temple inside the Bihar Compound. The Bihar is actually square or rectangle-shaped, with rooms housing monks on all sides. There is a central mound where the deity/deities would be held (not in the picture). And there are several secondary structures inside the compound. Another monastery at Jaipurhat, the Paharpur Vihar bears a striking resemblance to this one, as well as many others scattered all around Bangladesh and Eastern India.
