English: It is the oldest surviving inscription of Ahom king in Ahom text, now preserved in ASM (Assam State Museum)The Snake Pillar is originally discovered a few miles from Sadiya. The Snake Pillar has been preserved in the Assam State museum at Guwahati since 1953. The pillar entwined by the figure of a snake bears an inscription in the Ahom language.
Serpent pillar, A commemorative pillar of Swarganarayan Suhunmung (1498-1539 AD). The pillar bears an inscription in Ahom script. It records a declaration made during the reign of Ahom king Swargadeo Suhunmung. The summary of the declaration states that the Misimis are to dwell n the hills nears the Dibong river with their families, children, attendants and followers and they will give four baskets full of poison and other objects as tributes to Ahom in return. Further, it records that whoever later becomes the ruler shall not break the agreement and the engraved pillar. (Translation written in the sign board)
