Summary

Description
English: This represents either a distribution of bread by a candidate for office (wearing the 'toga candida' or whited toga of the electoral candidate); or, since he is seated upon a tribunal, and perhaps already an official, the whited toga would, therefore, be a sign of a plebeian office, e.g., aedile of the plebs. NB: Because there is no exchange of money or shopfront in this image, it cannot be a "sale of bread" as often assumed.
Français : Vente de pain.
