English: Original image caption (excerpt): These images from the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on NASA’s Terra satellite show the Helheim glacier [eastern Greenland] in June 2005 (top), July 2003 (middle), and May 2001 (bottom). The glacier occupies the left part of the images, while large and small icebergs pack the narrow fjord in the right part of the images. Bare ground appears brown or tan, while vegetation appears in shades of red. Note: As implied above, these images are false colour images composed of three bands of wavelengths in the infrared spectrum. This is why the vegetation appears in reddish tones.
Deutsch: Original-Bildbeschreibung (Auszug, übersetzt): Diese Bilder des Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) des NASA-Satelliten „Terra“ zeigen den Helheim-Gletscher [östliches Grönland] im Juni 2005 (oben), Juli 2003 (Mitte) und Mai 2001 (unten). Der Gletscher nimmt den linken Teil des Bildes ein, während im rechten Teil des Bildes der mit einem Gemisch aus Meereis und kleineren Eisbergen verstopfte enge Fjord zu sehen ist, in den das Gletschertal übergeht. Blanker Fels erscheint braun oder hellbraun, während Vegetation in Rottönen erscheint. Anmerkung: Wie oben schon angedeutet, handelt es sich hierbei um Falschfarbenbilder, die aus drei Infrarotkanälen zusammengesetzt sind. Deshalb erscheint die Vegetation in Rottönen. |
