English: Artist Mumbiram is very creative about his dressing. Most of his clothes are out of cotton or natural silk material, preferably woven on a handloom, most often out of handmade khadi. Mumbiram always designs his own outfit. He gets them tailored or fashions them out of existing material. Mumbiram always had shervanis in his collection well before it became popular in Bollywood. This one he is wearing in this photo is made out of khadi silk material This photo was made in Leipzig, Germany, during Mumbiram’s private visit in 2005. The cap is out of handloom khadi material and is folded in Mumbiram’s very own unique way. Whatever exotic outfit Mumbiram would conceive for himself, Mumbiram would wear it on the street with equal élan in any part of the town. Most of his ensembles would have appeared outlandish on others. When Mumbiram wore them, it appeared as if he was born wearing them. Certainly he made heads turn and made your imagination soar. The little gem-studded brooch has always been part of the ensemble as a signature of the artist.
