English: Photograph of Gurdwara Rewalsar Sahib [Gurdwara Sri Rewalsar Sahib/Gurduara Rewalsar Sahib, District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh], by Dhanna Singh 'Patialvi', 1934. Gurdwara Sri Rewalsar Sahib is located high on the hillside above the lake known as Rawalsar and the town that has grown up around its shores. This gurdwara was built in 1930 by Raja Joginder Sen of Mandi. It commemorates Guru Gobind Singh's visit. It is said that the Prasadi elephant was gifted here by Ratan Rai of Assam to Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Further info/images: [1]; [2]; [3]; [4] When traveling from Sri Anandpur Sahib to Manikaran Sahib, you will reach Gurdwara Handi Sahib (belonging to the Tenth Master) in Mandi; from there, this holy site is located 25 kilometers away, up a mountain to the left. At this location, the Tenth Master mediated a peace agreement between Rawal Nag and Kuber Yaksha. It was also at this spot that Guru Ji gave sermons to the King of Assam [Rattan Rai?] through the Tav-Prasad Savaiye. This was the same King of Assam who had previously visited Guru Ji at Anandpur Sahib to present grand offerings, including the Prashadi elephant, five-speed weapons, and a sandalwood throne." |
