English: LIC building is a 15-storied building in Chennai, India and it is located in the arterial road Anna Salai (Also called Mount Road). It is 54 m(177 ft) tall. It was built in 1959 and is one of the prominent land marks in the city that is often featured in movies. This building houses the Southern Headquarters of the Life Insurance Corporation of India. It was the tallest building in Chennai for over 35 years until the Arihant Majestic Towers, a 17-storied building , 63 meters (206 ft) tall was opened in Chennai in the 1990s. Many skyscrapers were under construction in Chennai today. Hyatt Regency, an 18-soried Hotel, Anna Salai, Chennai was commissioned in 2011 and it is taller than the LIC building (It is 71 meters(233 ft) tall).
