English: Kurumbera in local language literary means “stone wall”. Other than the high stone wall surrounding the complex, nothing in the complex looks remotely like part of a fort. There is a three domes structure inside the complex which appears to be a mosque. The architecture of the surrounding wall clearly shows signs of Odissa temple architecture style. Built during the reign of Gajapati Kapilendra Dev, 1538 – 1469, the structure has been significantly altered during Aurangzeb’s reign (1658-1707) by a local satrap – Mohammad Tahir
