English: Kailasa Gowri nomu is a ceremonial ritual performed by married women praying for the longevity of their husband's life. After a puja, the turmeric powder and kumkum are taken as offering to Goddess Gowri. Then 22.5 kgs of turmeric powder and 22.5 kgs of kumkum are offered to multiple married women until both powders run out. These are the powders used because only married women apply kumkum on their forehead/hair line and apply turmeric on their mangalsutra (wedding thread).
