Brightly clad pilgrims setting out on a cruise of the Ganga with people bathing and washing in the foreground.

Varansi is a important pilgrimage site and draws millions of devout Indians every year. This was low season but still attracted thousands everydays. Our rowboat guide commented on a group of 10,000 pilgrims due to arrvive tomorrow or the next day as an everyday experience and the city is set up to handle these influxes and all their devotional needs.
