Summary
DescriptionHulikere Tank Halebid.jpg
English: Hulikere was one of many water infrastructure constructions completed by Hoysalas by the 12th-century.
The Hulikere step well above would have been away from temples, and for general use. However, the secular and religious artwork in Hinduism overlaps. In this water tank, Vesara towered square shrines surrounded the water tank.
This is called a Kalyani, and these were secular source of water services. For temples, officials and merchants donated Pushkarani, which were used as water source for pilgrims and temple priests.
The relative scale and relative dimensions in this architectural drawing are close to the actual but neither exact nor complete. The plan illustrates the design and layout, but some intricate details or parts of the temple may not be shown. In cases where exact measurements were not feasible, the drawing uses best approximations and rounds the best measurements feasible. A part of this drawing is based on measurements published in 1916–17 by colonial era Mysore Archaeological Department.
This is a JPEG format plan and architectural drawing of a historic Indian temple or monument. An alternate SVG format (scalable vector graphics) version of this file – for web graphics, design studies, print, dynamic and interactive applications – has also been uploaded to wikimedia commons.
