English: A member of the Hausa ethnic group of northern Nigeria playing with a gurmi, a two-stringed instrument. This has been labeled xalam in an earlier version of this caption; however the body of the xalam is oval, while the gurmi's body is round (made from a calabash or gourd, which gives it its shape).
