DescriptionFlickr - Israel Defense Forces - Live Interoperability Drill Simulates Enemy Village Takeover (1).jpg
February 1, 2011.
In a live interoperability drill in southern Israel, IDF infantry, artillery, tank and air forces simulated taking control of an enemy village.
The IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, was present at the drill and remarked, "There is relative calm along the border, but the reality may change. It's enough to look at what is happening in Egypt to realize this."
The drill was also an opportunity for the Chief of Staff to part from the Ground Forces, where he expressed his gratitude towards the young commanders present: "When I look towards the future, I have full confidence -- you are the guarantee for the continuation of the existence of Israel."
