Egron Sellif Lundgren (1815-75). Watercolour and bodycolour. 46.8 x 30.4 cm (whole object). RCIN 919162. A watercolour portrait of Raja Surat Singh Majithia, full length, mounted on a grey horse.

Soorut Singh, formerly a State Prisoner, Benares; Full-length portrait, sitting on a grey horse; dressed in a yellow turban, white gown and yellow yophurs and regalia. In a clearing in a woods.

The Royal Collection Trust holds two drawings by Lundgren. There is a watercolour portrait of Raja Surat Singh Majithia, full length, mounted on a grey horse, which is very similar to ours in subject and style ( RCIN 919162). The second is a depiction of Sikh Children (RCIN 919177) and is from the Indian Sketches album comprising watercolours and drawings by Egron Lundgren, Nicholas Chevalier, Count Gotz Burkhard Seckendorff and Robert Gosset Woodthorpe.
