2017 : Appointed as the Finance Minister in 2016 : ADMK won 2016 Tamilnadu legislative election and he was appointed as the fishery minister. 2011 : Elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly on 2011 elections also from Royapuram constituency again and Appointed as the speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. 2006 :Became MLA from same royapuram constituency. 1991 : Amma offered a seat to contest in legislative elections and won in Royapuram constituency.
