The tower is designed in an Indo-Saracenic style and was erected in c.1896 from funds contributed by the citizens of Baroda in memory of Maharani Chimnabai (1864-1885), the first consort of the Gaekwar Maharaja Sayaji Rao III (ruled 1875-1939). |
