English: Painting title: "The Borobudur as Pilgrimage Site" (Dutch title: De Borobudur als bedevaartsoord). The painting reconstructs a scene of the Mahayana Buddhist temple in its heyday on Java island. Possibly in the 9th century during the Shailendra dynasty. Measurement: 67 x 96cm. The painter included two figures in white robes on the right which represent his grandfather (with a beard) Dr. D.A. Hooijer and his uncle Gijs Hooijer.
Signature: lower right: G.B. Hooijer (Gijsbert Brandt Hooijer). Inventory number: TM-75-2. Material: paper. Painting made with tempera paint. Made in circa 1910s (before 1919). This painting was donated to the Wereldmuseum in Amsterdam on 1 October 1919. Literature references: John N.
