English: A smiling member of the Ramnami Samaj sect.
This picture tells the story of a rebel community from Chhattisgarh, India, called Ramnami Samaj. They were fighting against the odds imposed on them by the society. These people used to belong to the lower caste, therefore they were forbidden to enter temples and to practice their religion. Being dominated by the Brahminical attitude, they started a silent non-violent revolt by tattooing राम, the name of Lord Rama, on their whole body and writing it on their clothes.

This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Made the whole picture a bit brighter. Removed some minor spots of dirt. Reworked the retouching of the lower right corner (which had already been retouched in the original) to remove cutting lines and pixelation. Added author, title, credits to the file metadata.
