Mankirat Aulakh[1] (born 2 October 1990) is an Indian Punjabi singer, songwriter and music producer. He is known for songs such as Jugaadi Jatt and Kuwari, and has also appeared in Punjabi films.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Aulakh was born in Fatehabad district, Haryana, and completed his schooling in his native village Behbalpur before moving to Chandigarh for higher studies. He graduated from DAV College, Chandigarh. During his youth he was active in kabaddi and wrestling, and began performing at college youth festivals, which marked the start of his music career.[3]

Career[edit]

Aulakh began releasing music professionally in 2013 and gained attention with several singles and music videos. He made his acting debut in the 2016 Punjabi film *Main Teri Tu Mera* and has since released numerous tracks including Glock, Judge, 8 Raflaan and others.[4]

He has also contributed to Punjabi cinema soundtracks and continues to collaborate with other singers and actors in the industry.[5]

Legal issues[edit]

In 2022, a Chandigarh court admitted a case against Aulakh alleging that his song 8 Raflaan defamed the legal profession.[6] He has also faced cases relating to promotion of gun culture in songs, a recurring issue among Punjabi artists.[7]

Controversies[edit]

Aulakh’s name appeared in media reports following the murder of singer Sidhu Moose Wala. He was stopped by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Mohali airport in 2023 for questioning over alleged links with gangsters, though later reports said he was given a "clean chit".[8][9]

He has repeatedly reported receiving death threats, including from the Davinder Bambiha gang and overseas numbers. Several suspects have been arrested for allegedly threatening him.[10][11]

Philanthropy[edit]

In 2025, Aulakh announced a donation of ₹5 crore and 100 tractors for flood relief in Punjab, which was acknowledged by the state chief minister.[12]
