In 1309 AD., after occupying Damoh-Jabalpur area from Parihara vassal of Chandelas, Alauddin khalji of Delhi Sultanate move toward Chandel adminstrative capital. On the other hand, Chandel army was also moving in the same direction to crushing the Khlijis. Both armies met on the banks of the Yamuna and Betwa river, which falls before the border of Kalanjara. A fierce battle took place, in which Alauddin lost to Hammiravarman and surrendered.
